The castle today

13th to 18th century castle (château fort). The fortified walls have been conserved as has the major part of its walkway. Diverse exhibitions, paintings, photos, ancient tools...

Fortified 13th-18th century château - Like a noble battleship perched on its rock, the Château of Brousse dominates the valleys of the Tarn and the Alrance, proudly protecting its village which is classed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. It has conserved its fortified walls as well as the greatest part of the sentry-walk around the battlements. It was the property of the Counts of Rouergue and later of the powerful Arpajon family for nearly 500 years. From the middle age to the Renaissance, a veritable voyage though architectural history awaits the visitor. Also to see in the château: diverse exhibitions, paintings, photos, ancient tools...
