A fortified seigneurial house
The castle of La Roque-Papailhonac is a fortified seigniorial house, built in the 11th-12th centuries. This castle was a stronghold for the protection of the seigneury of Brusque. It is situated at the eastern end of a natural cirque formed by the river Nuéjouls. We find traces of the Papailhonac family, the first occupant of the castle, in the cartulary of the abbey of Sylvanès in 1138.
